A week of teaching at the Torchbearer Center in Holsbybrunn
Gathered in the chapel for an evening session. It was special to sit in the round and hear the students share and interact with each other.
The Torchbearer Center in Holsbybrunn, Sweden is part of the international network of Torchbearer centers around the world. Each year they welcome 60-70 students from a wide variety of church backgrounds and nationalities to spend 9 months intentionally seeking to grow in their knowledge of scripture, prayer, community life and service. Their mission is to encourage and equip students for impactful service in their churches, vocations, and communities.
My first contact with Holsbybrunn was over 15 years ago while serving as youth pastor in Stockholm. Each summer we brought our youth groups here for a week of camp and over the years “Holsby” became a highlight of our ministry year.
I was delighted when the leadership began asking me to join their ministry as a guest teacher. In July I spent a week with the students teaching on the theme of prayer and growing in intimacy with God. It was such a privilege to have many deep conversations with students about their life with God and I came away feeling so thankful for this ministry and that I was able to join with God’s work during this week.
I invite you to pray for Holsbybrunn and their leadership as they prepare to welcome a new class of students in September. Pray for God’s work through them as they give themselves in service to the students who will attend. And pray also for the students who have registered that they would be open and receptive to all that God wants to do in their lives during this year.
If you know a young person who might be interested in attending Holsbybrunn, I would highly encourage you to invite them to check out their website and consider registering. It will be a life changing experience for them! https://www.holsby.org/
