A day with LM International global management team

On August 12, I had the privilege to join with the global management team from LM International as they gathered in Stockholm for their annual leadership retreat. LM International is a well respected Swedish, faith based development organization that works among vulnerable communities around the world in health care, education, and community empowerment.

It is an interesting story of how God opened this door. Twelve years ago I met Josephine Sundqvist who began attending our church in Stockholm and wanted to volunteer with youth ministry. She and her husband became core leaders and over three years we served side by in the youth ministry and formed a deep friendship. Three years ago she became the General Secretary of LM and through our connection invited me to their retreat to lead worship, offer reflections on transformational leadership and meet with each of the 9 leaders one on one for what they called, “deep dives.” This was an opportunity for the leaders to share freely about what ever was on their hearts in a safe space. Several leaders shared that they appreciated an opportunity in their schedule for quiet reflection, worship and a time to share about their lives with someone outside the organization.

I had been praying for God to open new ways to share my training in spiritual direction in Stockholm, and am thankful for this opportunity to share the gifts I received. As you read this perhaps you could offer prayer for these leaders who are serving people in Yemen, Sudan, Chad and other vulnerable communities around the world. Pray for their protection, energy and wisdom to lead their teams, and for God’s restorative work and healing in the communities they serve.
